Aaron Carter’s ‘luxury’ property eaten away by giant tax bills after tragic death

Aaron Carter’s California estate has received a valuation two years on from his tragic death, as giant tax bills owed by the deceased hitmaker loom over the total amount.

The late singer was found dead aged 34 on November 5, 2022 and now two years later court documents obtained by TMZ estimate the value of his estate at $757,400 (£596,000).

Carter, who famously feuded with his brother and Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, also appears to owe tens of thousands of dollars in tax bills, something which may eat away at his estate.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.

The Mail also reports Carter had claims against the estate from other creditors, although the publication noted those issues may have already been resolved.

Major US bank Wells Fargo filed a claim against the former hitmaker in January 2023, according to court documents.

In May 2023, the State of California Franchise Tax Board also filed a claim against the singer’s estate, initially stating Carter owed $17,000 (£13,300) in taxes but then increasing the amount to $77,310 (£60,630).

It is unclear what accounted for the discrepancy, with the documents failing to clarify if the tax liability has since been taken care of.

TMZ previously reported the singer wasn’t known to have a will at the time of his death, with his son Prince looking likely to inherit the estate. With some of Carter’s belongings not included in the valuation, his estate is hoping to finish valuing the property by the end of this year.

Carter was found drowned in a bathtub by a housekeeper at his estate on November 5, 2022. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later ruled it an accidental death, determining that Carter had died from an accidental drug overdose.
