Amanda Abbington hands texts to Strictly Giovanni Pernice probe that ‘change everything’

Amanda Abbington has reportedly submitted text messages with fresh revelations over Giovanni Pernice’s behaviour on Strictly Come Dancing.

It is understood the Sherlock star’s latest form of evidence has thrown the BBC investigation into a tailspin which has “changed the course of the probe”. According to The Sun, the mum-of-two came forward with explosive new messages just days before the probe was scheduled to conclude.

According to the outlet, the new development in the investigation suggests that the Italian dancer, 33, did “step over the line of what is acceptable.” A source told the publication: “The investigation is set to conclude this week but it has been made more difficult by the new disclosure from Amanda.

“It has turned the course of the probe. It seemed Giovanni would be cleared but this new information has changed everything again.

“Giovanni, it seems now, did appear to step over the line of what is acceptable for a BBC representative but more decisions need to be had. Every time they seem to reach a conclusion, something else gets thrown in that throws the investigation in a new direction.”

When approached for a comment, a representative from the BBC said: “As we have said before, we will not be commenting on individuals or engaging in speculation.” Daily Star has also contacted Amanda and Giovanni’s representatives for a comment.

Amanda, 50, has made a series of accusations about Giovanni’s training methods over the past six months. During recent interviews, the doting mum described his behaviour as “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean.”

Giovanni vehemently denies all of her claims. In her televised interview with Channel 4 News, the actress compared the BBC dance competition to “the trenches”.

She told her former co-star Krishnan Guru-Murphy that BBC producers had been left “horrified” by clips that allegedly revealed his “humiliating behaviour.” In another, the star spoke to Christine Lampard on Lorraine where she gave an insight into her time on the show.

She told her: “It was inappropriate, it was mean, it was nasty, it was bullying and I put up with it for five, six weeks. It started very early on and when it started to happen, I would shut down because I recognised those red flags.

“And so I would shut down and it would be difficult to get in, and that would be a self-fulfilling prophecy.” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter.
