BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent and Jon Kay failed to see eye to eye during the latest instalment of the hit morning show.
On Tuesday morning’s show (February 27), Jon was rather excited when he came across a newspaper article that suggested that slouching was OK for the back. According to medical researchers, sitting up correctly has no effect on the spine.
Kickstarting the conversation, Jon read the article in jubilation. He said to his co-host: “I feel vindicated this morning Sally, because medical research is telling me I’m OK if I slouch!

“You’re always telling me to sit up straight. It’s not good for my back, my neck!”
But a confused Sally jokingly hit back. She replied: “No I’m not, you’re making me sound like really bossy.”
Jon continued: “Well this morning it apparently has absolutely no effect on our spine, our back pain, neck pain, whatsoever.” He added: “This even says those standing desks, those trendy desks that people use- a waste of time apparently to improve posture, you can slump and slouch as much as you like…”
Sally found the article rather amusing and giggled while Jon read the findings. She then turned to him and asked: “Did you write this?”
The news comes after BBC Breakfast was pulled off air on Monday morning after it was hit with technical issues. But despite the calamities taking place, Jon and Sally were unaware.
The news readers were just about to hand over to hear the local headlines across the country when the programme was forced off screens due to a sound issue. BBC Breakfast cut to STV studios in Glasgow when viewers were unable to hear presenter Graham Stewart.
Trying to salvage the situation, BBC bosses cut the coverage and replaced it with a message on screen. The message read: “We are sorry for the break in this programme and we are trying to correct the fault.”
Back in the Manchester studio, both Jon and Sally appeared to be unaware of the broadcast issue. Luckily for the presenting duo, the fault wasn’t long lasting and they were able to continue business as usual shortly after.
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One from 6am
