Channel 4 host in distress over ‘derelict’ family home: ‘I just want to leave’

Scarlette Douglas was well and truly fed up on the latest instalment of The Worst House on the Street as she declared she was itching to get out of a downright dreadful property.

In Tuesday’s episode (August 6), Scarlette and her brother Stuart headed over to Luke and Shurel’s new Nottingham home, which looked straight out of a horror film. The newbie parents hoped to revamp their property into their dream living area, but the clock was ticking with only three months on it.

The house had gaping holes in the ground and a smell of damp. While wandering around the house, presenter Scarlette couldn’t hide her disdain and spilled to Stuart: “I just want to leave. I just want to walk straight back out of this room.”

She didn’t sugarcoat the mammoth task ahead to Luke and Shurel too. Amidst the tears, Scarlette and Stuart encouraged the pair, reports the Mirror.

Over on X, fans shared their thoughts. One said: “I couldn’t imagine anything worse than doing up a house when you have a baby in tow.”

Meanwhile, another TV watcher shared their wisdom, advising: “If you haven’t got a skip, stop! Filling the property with demolition waste is a safety hazard and doubles your work.”

But as time went on, the young couple were hit with another financial blow as they added a new extension. And as if home renovation jitters weren’t enough, Luke and Shurel blew their original budget.

But, despite the odds looking grim, the dynamic duo pulled it out the bag in just 14 weeks, leaving Scarlette and Stuart absolutely flabbergasted at the final reveal. The transformed home included a swish open-plan kitchen-cum-living-room kitted out with chic, modern vibes.

Fans at home were just as wowed, with one stating: “I think this house may be my favourite in the series so far.” Another said: “They must have spent a fortune on furniture.”

Worst House on the Street airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
