‘Chilling’ music video ‘traumatised’ a generation with ‘human meat grinder’ clip

A Pink Floyd video is widely regarded as one of the scariest music videos of all time.

Another Brick In The Wall is a protest song featuring a children’s choir which was ranked on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award, but these aren’t the only reasons the rock song is so memorable.

The music video “traumatised” a generation of children after watching Pink Floyd’s project, which included rows of children entering a meat grinder and kids with their heads replaced by faceless masks. The video was set in a creepy industrial factory with smoke and low lighting which was bound to leave any children watching completely horrified.

Along with the horror movie-like scenes, Pink Floyd also added in clips of teachers spanking children and close up shots of their faces as they shouted at the pupils to behave. The band’s lyrics talk about rebelling against the system, with the famous lyric: “We don’t need no education, we don’t need no thought control, no dark sarcasm in the classroom, hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone.”

Many have gathered online to share their thoughts on the terrifying clip. In the YouTube comment section of the music video, one person wrote: “I remember seeing this video on TV as a child and it scared the hell out of me. Especially the kids falling into the meat machine, it still gives me chills to this day,”

Another Pink Floyd fan added: “I will forever remember how my dad played this when I was little. The imagery of this album will forever be burned into my mind.” Someone else said that the video “gave them nightmares” while others said they had “goosebumps” watching the clip back and were “traumatised” as a child.

More Floyd fans said that the lyrics are “extremely truthful” and “so important in today’s times,” despite the fact it was released 45 years ago. “I remember watching this as a kid and it scared the sh** out of me,” typed one person as another comment read: “This is what my nightmares were about when I was a kid. Now that I’ve grown up [its] just awesome music, but since I wasn’t able to see the meaning and the beauty of this song it really traumatised the sh** out of me.”
