Chris McCausland admits he feared he’d be a “car crash” on Strictly.
The comic, 47, worried being blind would mean he’d struggle to master routines for the BBC dance contest.
He said: “My concern was that it would be a disaster. I honestly thought it could be a car crash.

“There’s no hiding from the fact that I am doing this not being able to see where I am or what I am doing.”

Despite his blindness being a big disadvantage, Chris didn’t want to be a joke.
The star, who is partnered with pro Dianne Buswell, 35, said: “I’m all for a challenge, I’m all for doing something out of my comfort zone, but I don’t want to be the ‘fun guy’.
“Because if I come on the air and because of my blindness I fail, that’s no good for anyone. “The whole point of being here is to surprise people, to represent people and maybe expose people to somebody they might think would be incapable of doing these things.”

Chris has sailed through every elimination — even avoiding the dance-off when he was bottom of the leaderboard at the weekend. In fact, the comedian is the bookies’ favourite to win the series.
He added: “I will try and go as far as I can in this. If we can keep on entertaining, then I think we’ve got a good chance of going further than anybody thought we would have gone.”
