Coleen Rooney has admitted to feeling sympathy for Rebekah Vardy following the torrent of online abuse she faced, but now a fellow WAG has slammed Coleen, accusing her of doing “absolutely nothing” to curb the trolling.
The drama unfolded after Coleen, wife of football legend Wayne Rooney, accused Rebekah’s Instagram account of leaking stories to the press in a bombshell tweet that sparked a libel lawsuit from the Dancing On Ice star.
It was heard during the High Court Caroline Watt, Rebekah’s ex-agent, might have been behind the leaks, having had access to Vardy’s account. Despite this, following Coleen’s explosive social media reveal, Rebekah was subjected to a barrage of sickening messages from trolls, which took a heavy emotional toll on her, even leading to tears during an appearance on Loose Women.
Reflecting on the saga in her Disney+ series, Coleen expressed how difficult it was to see the abuse hurled at Rebekah: “It was painful watching it.”

“In a weird way, I felt for her because she chose to go to court and put herself in that situation, it wasn’t nice.” Vardy’s legal team argued that Coleen’s post had seriously damaged her career and reputation. However, a source close to the feuding WAGs told the Mirror: “She felt so sorry for Becky she did absolutely nothing to stop it even after being asked several times. Coleen was well aware of what the abuse and bullying was doing to Rebekah Vardy.”, reports the Mirror.
“In fact her legal team went so far to continue to reject any of Rebekah’s serious harm case right up until the first day of court when they eventually accepted and conceded on not only that point but others also causing severe distress and unnecessary expense.”
During the Disney+ series, Coleen admitted that going to court was her worst nightmare and that she had hoped to settle the libel claim outside of the court room. Coleen is now kickstarting her TV career again, having joined the ITV I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp and has expressed her desire to leave the infamous Wagatha trial behind. Instead, Coleen hopes that viewers of the programme will see the real her and know her as “Coleen from Liverpool.”

Coleen Rooney has opened up about her desire to be remembered simply as “Coleen from Liverpool,” shrugging off any fancier titles. Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It’s just me, as I always have been, so hopefully people just think she’s that Scouser that she’s always been.”
Yet, during the show’s launch on Sunday, Coleen couldn’t hide her discomfort when her social media moniker ‘Wagatha Christie’ was shouted out by co-star Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough, leaving her visibly cringing.
Despite this, Coleen insists she’s put her high-profile legal drama with Rebekah Vardy in the past, focusing on “moving forward” and prioritising her family and children. She expressed her determination to leave the past behind, stating: “That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back. That’s something I’ve done my whole life, dealt with things, moved forward at the time and got on. There are more important things to think about with the family and kids.”
