Coronation Street star marries stunning girlfriend weeks after ITV soap exit

A Coronation Street actor has tied the knot just weeks after leaving the ITV soap.

Ciaran Griffiths, 41, has married his girlfriend after moving to Australia to be with his new wife and their son. In a snap from the big day shared on social media, Ciaran can be seen wearing. ablue blazer with a white shirt and navy trousers.

His other half wowed in a lace gown as she posed for a gorgeous photograph on a boat with the iconic Sydney Opera House in the background. They met when touring in a theatre production in Australia back in 2019.

The soap star briefly moved back to the UK to reprise his role as Weatherfield bad boy Damon Hay in January this year. Speaking about his temporary move back to Manchester, he said at the time: ‘It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now, he understands a bit more so I don’t feel as guilty leaving him, even though I’m doing it for them anyway. But the weather’s terrible, I’m never ill in Australia, yet I get here and straight away I’ve got a cold!’

After playing Damon for two years, Ciaran’s time on the show came to a “natural end”. A source told The Sun at the time: “Ciaran’s loved his time on the show but Damon’s story came to a natural end for now. The door has been left open but for now it’s time to say goodbye to him.” In in final scenes, Damon was arrested for armed robbery after being blackmailed into it by brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

He had the option to turn on Harvey and be freed to live his life with girlfriend Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) but he knew they would never be safe. So he decided to plead guilty and accept years in prison with Harvey instead. The brothers had a brutal fight and then reunited with plans to relaunch their criminal empire from behind bars. During Friday’s (March 29) episode, Damon called Sarah to prison to break up with her.

As Sarah told him how she planned to wait for him and that they could have a future together, Damon dropped bombshell on his lover. He said: “I don’t want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face, we’re finished. I’m doing you a massive favour. You turned my world upside down but if I loved you, properly loved you, I wouldn’t have done the stuff I’ve done. “You’ve got to walk away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye Sarah.” With that he got up and walked away from her leaving her devastated.
