Coronation Street favourite Sally Carman admitted the real reason why working with her co-star husband Joe Duttine is “horrendous”.
The 43-year-old actress, who plays Abi Webster on the ITV soap, met the Tim Metcalfe actor, 53, on the Manchester set back in 2017. It didn’t take long before the happy couple tied the knot in 2022.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Sally revealed that her other half often
leaves her in stitches and makes it impossible to film together. The soap siren admitted that she’s actually relieved their characters don’t come face to face often because he makes her laugh too much.

She told the publication: “Obviously I love my husband dearly, but to work with him would be horrendous – he’s too funny! I do tend to watch Joe’s stuff [in Corrie] at home but sometimes it’s hard to get into it because he’s already told me everything about the filming of it.”
It comes after her fellow Corrie star Lisa George hinted at her departure from the soap in September. The soap star admitted her dream for starring in other hit BBC shows in the future.
It emerged last week that the 50-year-old star had reportedly decided to leave the cobbles to pursue “new challenges”. The blonde bombshell arrived on the ITV cobbles as Beth Tinker back in 2011.
Since then she has gone on to perform in a series of challenging storylines which have kept viewers glued to their screens. But it seems as though Lisa had a hunch that she may not be staying on the show for much longer.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Star, she explained how she had been waiting three months for her bosses to resign her ITV contract. She admitted: “I’m just waiting to hear if I get another contract.”
Meanwhile, Lisa shared some of the popular BBC dramas she would like to work on in the future. She went on: “I’m really interested in the war stuff because my grandad talked about the war all the time.
“So I’d love to do a 1940s drama. Or something set in the 60s would be amazing. I would love to do Call The Midwife. And I watched Ten Pound Poms and loved it. A role in something like that would be amazing.”
She added: “I’d love to do something like that. I like my vintage dramas and stuff like that, maybe a 1940s drama, more like war stuff.” News of Lisa’s exit from the ITV soap came on Friday (May 17) after 13 years on the show.
According to The Sun, Lisa’s exit storyline will hit the airwaves over the summer and will be “as dramatic as she is”. A source told the publication: “Lisa has been on Corrie for a long time and she’s had some great storylines.
“She’s become a firm fan favourite with her comedy scenes but has had viewers sobbing in heartbreaking plots like Sinead’s death. She loves Corrie and it’s in her bones but she feels now is the right time to move on and take on new challenges.”
Daily Star has reached out to a representative for Coronation Street for a comment. Beth originally arrived on the cobbles as a love interest for Steve McDonald, but soon formed a strong romance with Kirk Sutherland.
Her family soon became engrained in the heart of Weatherfield, with her son Craig becoming a police officer, and her niece Sinead tragically dying of cancer. Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
