Simon Gregson has joked his Corrie character Steve McDonald will go for anyone with a pulse… who can make a butty.
The unlucky lad has just had his heartbroken again by his horrible missus Tracy. And Simon reckons Steve now needs to pull out all the stops to find a new partner.
He said: “It’d be great if we see Steve having to go down the route of speed dating, online dating, maybe being single for a while.

“I think anyone will do. At this point in Steve’s life he’d be lucky to have anybody! If she’s got a pulse and she can make a sandwich I think Steve would be happy.”
He said of the storyline of Tracy and Steve’s marriage hitting the rocks: “It’s always fun doing argument scenes with Steve and Tracy because there’s always that thing in the back of Steve’s mind where she could pick up a pan and bludgeon him to death.
“So he’ll give as good as he gets to a point, then he’s like I need to back off or I may die. Tracy’s clearly a sociopath anyway so it is always fun and Kate is such the polar opposite of Tracy, that just makes it even more fun for us as friends to play out.
“It’s always better to have fun with the scenes otherwise it’s work and who wants to work for a living.”
And Simon said of having Matt Milburn back as Tommy: “When Matt first came into the show six years ago we all got on like a house on fire and we had a right laugh and this time around it’s been just the same.
“Matt’s such a lovely guy and he’s very good at what he does so it’s just been really nice. Nice, fun scenes, we’ve all really enjoyed it.”
