Saturday Kitchen fans were not too impressed as they slammed the show’s “unbelievable” Dave Myers tribute.
The former chef and TV personality passed away this week, with the official confirmation coming on Thursday (February 29). The chap from Barrow-in-Furness had been suffering from cancer that had first been diagnosed in 2022.
Famous for being in the Hairy Bikers, with best pal Si King, Dave was a part of several successful TV shows over the years. He was also a regular on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen show, alongside Si.

And on Saturday (March 2) the long-running programme returned to screens with Matt Tebbutt back to host. But viewers were quick to share their complaints.
At the start of the show, host Matt and the rest of the panel waved flags in celebration of Rick Stein Day. Rick is a celebrity chef renowned for his seafood restaurants in Cornwall and Dorset.
However, fans noted how the latest show should have been dedicated to Dave. Instead, host Matt gave a brief tribute to him and shared a moving film montage to viewers.
After the footage of Si and Dave ended, Matt said: “He [Dave] would have relished being part of celebrating Rick today. So, let’s carry Dave in our hearts and get on with today’s show.”
Viewers were left raging at their screens and complained how the show was not dedicated to Dave. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Shouldn’t you lot on #saturdaykitchen at least wear a black armband in respect to hairy.
Someone else fumed: “Rick Stein Day?! Seriously? Shouldn’t today’s programme be dedicated to Dave Myers?.” A third raged: “WTF – in the week we lose Dave Myers SaturdayKitchen decides to spurn one of their most entertaining guests go with 90mins of kissing Rick Stein’s a**e?! Not even a mention of him in the opening segment. Unbelievable.”
Another chimed in and penned: “I’ve clearly missed something. Why all the tributes to Rick? Anyone would think it was he who passed away, not Dave Myers.”
A fifth mused: “Would have been more appropriate for saturdaykitchen to dedicate today’s show to HairyBikers not rickstein.” Echoing their thoughts, a sixth said: “Hope we have a whole episode dedicated to Dave Myers soon. Considering he was regularly on the show & even a host, I thought more time would be dedicated today.
