Dragons’ Den’s Steven Bartlett silenced after attempting to shut down guest

Steven Bartlett attempted to stop one entrepreneur in their tracks, but it soon went downhill.

The Diary of a CEO podcaster and Dragons’ Den star joined his fellow panellists to hear out some fresh pitches on the show. Business owners Joe Gray and Lottie Whyte appeared on the BBC shop to ask for a £100,000 investment in their company MyoMaster.

But as they began pitching their products which include a massage gun, an ice bath and compression boots among many other items, Stephen Bartlett stopped them in their tracks.

He told the pair: “I’ve seen all of this before. What I said at the start of this was these massage guns, they send me this stuff all the time and it’s just piling up in my house.”

But Lottie responded: “With all due respect, you’re not our core customer. To be honest with you, our core customer isn’t getting sent free Therabodies.

“They’re people who love sport, they love running, they go to parkrun, they sign up for 10k runs. We meet thousands and thousands of them.”

He looked up at the pair completely silenced, with the BBC airing it on their TikTok hours later with the caption: “The BEST shut down in Dragons’ history??”

Fans immediately rushed to the comments to join in laughing after the awkward clip. One user wrote: “When you have to remind rich people that normal people don’t receive PR.”

Another said: “The way he was absolutely seething. I love her.” A third added: “He needed that humbling.”

And Lottie didn’t need the support from Steven, with Gary Neville and Sara Davies each putting down £50,000 into the business. The duo received a total of four offers from the Dragons including Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden.

They ultimately opted to go with Gary and Sarah, with Lottie saying afterwards: “By combining Gary’s sporting connections and experience with Sara’s business expertise, this can really help open doors for us on this next phase of our journey.

“Going on the show has given us the drive to continue innovating our business and change the way people approach recovery and performance optimisation.”
