EastEnders fans ‘shouting at the TV’ over ‘absurd’ prison blunder as star makes return

EastEnders fans have been left baffled by a glaring prison blunder.

The BBC soap returned to screens on Thursday (June 13) and saw Keanu Taylor’s funeral take place. As fans will recall, he was killed by Linda Carter at Christmas.

Keanu was about to strangle Sharon Watts before Linda stepped in and stabbed him. The rest of The Six then covered up the murder by dumping Keanu’s body in the cafe.

In typical soap fashion though, his body was eventually discovered causing panic among the ladies. However, they set up Dean Wicks for Keanu’s murder – with him getting sent to prison for it.

Karen made her return

And with his funeral taking place, it saw the return of Keanu’s mother Karen. Determined to find out the truth, she visited her son’s ‘killer’ in prison.

In order to see Dean though, Karen lied to prison officers and pretended to be his mum Shirley Carter. And fans were left seriously stumped at how she’d have gotten away with it.

Fans were left distracted at the blunder

On an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one person said: “I don’t get it how can you go pass security in prison visits pretending to be someone else without proof of ID.”

Someone else added: “I was shouting that a the tv loool.” A third wrote: “How that work?” Another wrote: “It’s EE anything can happen.” A fifth penned: “You can’t. You have to take photo id every single time.

“And they check their system against your id before your even searched. That scene really let the whole episode down,” they added.

A sixth fumed: “Yeah absolutely massive continuity error on the writers part today! Absolutely absurd ! You don’t just roll up to a prison, give a fake name and stroll in to see the accused suspect of your murdered son! Ridiculous! really really lazy!”
