EastEnders could be set to welcome back another legend following Jane Beale’s return – and fans are buzzing.
Over on the BBC soap recently, viewers were left stunned when Jane (Laurie Brett) made a shock comeback. As fans will recall, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) had been keeping a huge secret from his family, including his partner Cindy (Michelle Collins).
Thinking he was having an affair, Cindy tracked Ian down and found him at a mystery cottage in the Cotswolds. It was then revealed that Ian had paid a visit to ex-wife Jane.

Jane had reached out to Ian for advice on how to reconnect with their son Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) – who also arrived at the cottage with Peter (Thomas Law).
And in Wednesday’s episode (July 17), released on iPlayer, Jane managed to bond with Bobby during an emotional heart-to-heart. Before Bobby headed back to Walford, Jane handed over his 21st birthday present.
Bobby looked delighted as he got out a bracelet inscribed with Ayat-Al-Kursi, considered the most powerful verse of the Quran. He then quizzed Jane on how she knew about it, but she brushed the question off, merely telling Bobby she would explain another time.
But later on, the truth was revealed as Jane was seen alone at home while on the phone. Despite telling Ian earlier that she was single, while on the phone, Jane was speaking to a romantic partner who didn’t appear on screen.
She told him: “Okay, love, see you later. Oh, Masood? That silver band with the scripture? He loved it. Thank you.” Jane was talking to Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) who didn’t make an on-screen return for the episode.
The soap favourite, played by Nitin Ganatra, made his debut back in 2007 – and the beloved postman was at the centre of some tough storylines. He also had his fair share of relationships on Albert Square – including with Jane and his Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) too.
Masood was last seen in Walford back in 2019 – before he decided to quit Albert Square for a life in Australia. However, fans are now convinced that the legend is coming back to the soap following Jane’s phone call with him.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Masood is deffo coming back AHHH.” A second proclaimed: “ Does this mean a Masood return?!? Eastenders really doing bits this week.”
A third chimed in and wrote: “Jane is back with Masood?! Didn’t see that one coming.” Another penned: “Jane and Masood?! Get them on screen together immediately.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
