Former EastEnders star Scarlett Alice Johnson wasn’t a fan of sex scenes before she got down and dirty on-screen for a 2008 flick.
The actress, shot to fame playing Vicki Fowleron the BBC One soap – making her debut in 2003. As the daughter of Dirty Den Watts and Michelle Fowler, Vicki caused a stir in Walford during her short but sweet stint.
Mischievous Vicki found herself involved in plenty of major storylines. These include the likes of following in her mother’s footsteps and getting pregnant in her teens.

However, after nearly two years and 194 episodes, actress Scarlett quit the soap in 2004. Her character Vicki went to join her mother in America. She then reunited with Spencer Moon in Australia where they now run a bar.
And in 2008, Scarlett shed her good girl soap image by playing Lexi in the British crime drama Adulthood. Directed, written by and starring Noel Clarke, the flick was the sequel to 2006’s smash hit movie Kidulthood and starred the likes of Danny Dyer and Adam Deacon.
Adulthood follows Sam, played by Noel, who gets released from prison for the murder of his schoolmate Trife in the past film. However things take a dramatic turn when a gang intends to avenge Trife by killing Sam.
During the film, Sam comes across Lexi, played by Scarlett. And the pair soon end up bonking at her flat during a booze and drug-fuelled session.
Before she got down and dirty on-screen for Adulthood though, Scarlett wasn’t a fan of performing sex scenes and refused to shoot them. But the actress said she was “very pleased” with the one in Adulthood.
Speaking to View London in 2008, Scarlett was quizzed on what it was like to film the sex scene. She said: “It was fine. Obviously, Noel has been with this project from start to finish so I felt very confident that I was never going to arrive on set and things had changed, I would suddenly be topless or wearing, I don’t know, something on my nipples. I knew what it was going to entail.”
Scarlett added: “I’ve always felt very strongly that I would never do any kind of sex scene, or any kind of nude scene, in fact, unless it was absolutely necessary in the script. And this is not a gratuitous sex scene anyway, I think it’s quite an honest portrayal of that slightly awkward, initial fumbling sort of thing. I’m very pleased with it.”
Since leaving Walford for good, Scarlett has gone on to have plenty of success amongst other projects away from the BBC soap. The star nabbed roles in Channel 4 comedy series Pete Versus Life and Beaver Falls as well as UK films Panic Button.
Aside from her role in EastEnders, Scarlett is best known for her portrayal of Laura Derbyshire in the hit BBC Three sitcom Pramface – a role she played for three years. The mum-of-one also took to the stage following her soap exit, appearing in productions including Radiant Vermin, The Angry Brigade, Slaves and Romeo and Juliet and plenty of others.
