EastEnders signs up actor who’s ‘been in every British soap’ for controversial storyline

An actor who has “been in every other British soap” has bagged a role on EastEnders.

Actor Neil Roberts has joined as part of George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) ongoing storyline. Fans will recall how the Queen Vic landlord’s adoptive parents rocked up earlier this year.

However, it was later revealed that Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) and Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) bought George as a youngster through a process known as baby farming back in the day – which is when children were illegally sold to couples by their biological parents.

George’s world was then turned upside down even more when he found out Eddie had been accused of murder and needed George for a character reference. And in a shocking turn of events, it was then revealed that Eddie had killed George’s birth father.

Despite showing up to court, George backfired on his plan to lie and ripped Eddie to shreds at the stand. But George was left even more stumped when he noticed a woman rushing out, who he believed to be his birth mother.

The woman was then revealed to not be his mum but was a family friend. She then told George that his birth mum died four months ago.

Eddie is currently facing trial for the murder. And the soap will soon introduce a new character, a barrister called Warren Finn who will represent Eddie at court.

Taking on the role of Warren is Hollywood star Neil Roberts. The actor played Rex Buckland in hit American series Charmed and is no stranger to a soap stint.

Recently, Neil has played DS Jason Wise on the ITV soap soap Emmerdale since 2016 until his most recent appearance in 2023. While from 2011 to 2012, Neil portrayed Mike Leydon in Coronation Street.

He also played Glenn Donovan in Hollyoaks in 2017. As well as a variety of characters from 2003-2021 in BBC One’s Doctors.

Having acted in every other British soap, I am absolutely delighted to be completing the set as I join the cast of EastEnders for a guest role in episodes set to air next week that form part of George Knight’s ongoing Farming storyline’, he told Metro.co.uk.
