The first full trailer for highly-anticipated slasher film Terrifier 3 has been released online, with its ‘naughty cut’ version leaving fans fearing for their wellbeing.
This sequel follows on from 2022’s Terrifier 2, which concluded with Victoria, now institutionalised, giving birth to Art the Clown’s living head. The next chapter of this terrifying tale sees Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her brother Jonathan (Elliott Fullam) grappling with the aftermath of surviving the supernatural killer’s previous massacre.
“As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind,” an official synopsis reveals. “But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe.”
Damien Leone returns as writer and director for the third entry into the cult franchise, with David Howard Thornton once again reprising his role as the ruthless murderer.
The budget for Terrifier 3 saw a significant increase to $2 million (up from $250,000), following its predecessor’s impressive box office earnings of over $15m.
Fans of the Terrifier franchise have already started sharing their predictions after viewing the psychologically disturbing imagery in the trailer. One fan commented: “Oh goodness I fear many will be vomiting and throwing up in theatres when seeing this one,” while another added: “This is going to be Horror Movie of the Year,” reports the Mirror.
The trailer for Terrifier 3 can be viewed below. Viewer discretion is advised.
“SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! First off wow. You can see the difference that $2m budget makes. It just looks so much better,” one fan penned. “So much more cinematic. David [Howard Thornton] looks so comfortable as art. The effects took a nice step up. It simple looks more cinematic in general while still having that dirty grind house feel.”
In a previous social media post, filmmaker Leone teased his next Terrifier film: “Can honestly say we just filmed one of the most insanely horrific scenes of the Terrifier franchise and you’ll never believe who couldn’t handle it on set the bts [behind-the-scenes] is hilarious. Can’t wait for you all to see!”.
Terrifier 3 hits cinemas on October 11.
