Giovanni Pernice’s Strictly future set for crunch talks after ‘tearful’ co-star claims

Giovanni Pernice reportedly faces further talks about his Strictly Come Dancing future after a fourth star claimed she was left in tears over his training methods.

The 33-year-old Italian joined the cast in 2015 during season 13 and has been a favourite with viewers ever since. However, after he had to drop out of the 2023 season when his partner, Amanda Abbington, got injured, rumours began circulating that some of his other former dance partners found it hard to work with him.

There have been whispers that Giovanni’s training style is too “intense”, leading to concerns that he might not be asked back for the 2024 season, meanwhile. Despite those reports, it seems the BBC are still standing by their star, however.

The latest updates claim that Amanda, along with ex-Strictly stars Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore, met up to chat about their experiences with Giovanni. Now, there are new reports suggesting that Faye Tozer from Steps found it tough to work with him and even ended up crying after they appeared together on It Takes Two, reports the Mirror.

A source detailed Giovanni’s chat with the Strictly bosses to the Sun, explaining: “Giovanni has a meeting with Strictly on Thursday about his return later this year. They have not received any official complaints and are backing him. He is an accomplished pro dancer and it’s expected he will be taking his place in the formal line-up when it’s announced later this month.”

A spokesperson for the show simply added in response: “The pro dancers for 2024 will be announced in due course.”

Giovanni doesn’t appear to be sweating over his future, however, and is currently enjoying his live tour, Let Me Entertain You. He’s been busy wowing crowds all over the UK with his fancy moves, most recently rocking up in Ipswich, East Anglia, and had everyone cheering.

He even hopped onto Instagram to show everyone how his show was a total sell-out, with the theatre jam-packed with fans. He posted a sneaky video of himself stepping onto the stage to a hushed crowd, ready to be dazzle his fans.

He said at the time: “So we are in Ipswich tonight. It’s one of my favourite places in the entire world. I have to be honest. Everything in Ipswich works better. But unfortunately tonight, nobody came to watch the show.”

Then the lights turned on and showed loads of happy fans who started screaming and clapping. Giovanni then shouted: “Ipswich what do we like to say? Thank you! Thank you. I love you.” Next, he posted a video where he’s at the front of the stage and everyone is cheering and saying his name. He wrote on the video: “When thousands screaming my name, only one feeling: GRATEFUL! I love you.”
