Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley has sparked fury after suggesting it might be time to ‘lay off’ Prince Andrew following the Jeffrey Epstein saga. However, ITV viewers weren’t having any of it, slamming the host for his controversial opinion.
Back in the GMB hot seat this Monday, Richard Madeley, 68, got chatty with Kwasi Kwarteng and Nells Abbey following a dive into the political drama of the day. But when the converstion landed on Prince Andrew, things got intense.
After news hit that a snap from Prince Andrew’s car-crash 2019 Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis had been given the thumbs up in the first round of the National Gallery acquisitions, Richard popped the question: “Is it time to lay off Prince Andrew?”
He was recalling the moment after their Newsnight showdown when Andrew reportedly quipped: “Well, that went rather well, didn’t it?”
Richard underlined that the Duke was “totally unaware of what he’d just done to his profile, his future, his reputation and everything.” The presenter also pointed out the brutal backlash Prince Andrew was targeted with following his interview, reports the Mirror.
TV audiences were quick to slam Richard’s remarks on social media with one fuming: “Can’t believe Madeley saying is it time to lay off Prince Andrew, cut him a bit of slack! ! ! ! No! ! Switched off!”
Another peeved telly fan voiced their opinion: “Richard Madeley is insufferable. ‘We should be giving Prince Andrew a break’.” Yet another joined in, hitting out with: “Lay off Prince Andrew? Really? Nah.”
Keeping up the commentary, someone else remarked: “Richard Madeley really is a jerk if he thinks that we should cut Prince Andrew some slack.”
Meanwhile, on another Royal front, Prince Andrew’s scrap with King Charles III doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere fast as the siblings seemingly can’t stop bickering over the Duke’s digs at Royal Lodge.
The shamed lad of late Queen Elizabeth II has set up shop in this swanky 30-room Windsor gaff, which reportedly could do with a bit of a touch-up. In what’s not your average housing sitch, Andy’s bunking with his former missus Sarah Ferguson and seems pretty dug in about keeping hold of the joint.
