Last month, Daniel admitted that navigating their separation hasn’t been easy going – but the pair are still living together. He admitted things were “a bit choppy in the beginning”, but now Daniel can listen to stories about Stephen’s dating ventures painlessly.

The Channel 4 star told the outlet: “Nothing nasty happened here, nothing really dramatic. That would be a different story but because it hasn’t been like that, it was quite grown up.

“In the beginning it’s always tricky, isn’t it? But once you’ve got your boundaries in place – we do get on well. We’re still sharing a flat together.

“He comes home and tells me about his filming Celebs Go Dating and I try to give him some advice.” It comes after the silver fox surprised viewers when he went on a date with 22-year-old footballer, Ben.

But heir cocktail date didn’t go quite as planned when Ben fell sick when he arrived at the bar. Things took a turn when Stephen learned Ben’s mum was younger than he was.

After the date, he reflected: “I should have known better but I went with my gut on the night.” After watching the dramatic dates hit the airwaves, viewers flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their concerns online.

One user penned: “Age gap relationships seem to be a common thread in this program.#CelebsGoDating.” Another agreed: “People saying age is just a number. Ye that’s good for you BUT not all of us want to be sleeping with a man 20+ years younger #CelebsGoDating.”

A third echoed: “I don’t think that Jamelia’s age gap situation can be much worse than Stephen’s #CelebsGoDating.” Others were less kind about Stephen’s date.

One user penned: “Nahhh Stephen that’s embarrassing,” with another calling it “Uncomfortable watch!” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter
