Heartbreaking reason Trevor Sorbie will not have a funeral after sad death at 75

This Morning’s Trevor Sorbie gave a heart-breaking reason why he ‘didn’t want a funeral’.

The celebrity hairdresser has sadly died aged 75 after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He confessed that he wouldn’t want a funeral just weeks before he passed away [8 November].

Trevor told The Times: “When the time comes my ashes with be interred with [his wife] Carole’s and our little dog. If the cancer reaches my brain, then I’ll accept it, but until then I’m in charge and I’m going on my terms.”

Sorbie explained that a funeral would be “too upsetting” for his loved ones. While on This Morning a few weeks back, Trevor explained how he got diagnosed: “I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to the hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack.”

“I can’t face any more of that poison [chemotherapy]. When I asked a nurse if I’d still be here at Christmas, she said: ‘We don’t know Trevor,’ and that annoyed me. I’ve got cancer in my body, but not in here.”

On 8 November 2024, a gut-wrenching post was shared on Trevor’s social media accounts. It read: “It is with heartfelt emotion that we share the passing of our esteemed founder Trevor Sorbie. Trevor passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog by his side.”

“Trevor’s journey, marked by unparalleled creativity and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the world of hairdressing and beyond. From pioneering The Wedge five decades ago to establishing our first salon in 1979, Trevor’s vision set new standards and continues to inspire generations.”

The post went on to say that his brand will “commemorate 45 years of Trevor Sorbie salons” and “remain steadfast in upholding” Trevor’s signature “passion, artistry and dedication that he embodied”.

A statement also informed fans that “there will be no funeral” and in lieu of flowers, his loved ones kindly asked for donations to support Marie Curie, Cancer Research UK, Rowans Hospice and My New Hair, which were charities “all close to his heart”.
