One Hollywood actor looked unrecognisable as he was hauled back to jail 48 hours after he was released.
Jason Hoganson was snapped giving the thumbs up as he walked free from HMP Durham on September 10. The disgraced star, 53, was freed after serving just half of his 18-month sentence under Sir Keir Starmer’s controversial scheme last week.
The tattooed thug was thrown behind bars for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. But despite his early release, the star, who had a leading role in the cult 1980s film Empire State, found himself back in prison just two days later.

He allegedly slapped his ex-girlfriend after turning up outside her house on the day he was released under Labour’s new prison plan. Hoganson has also been accused of breaching his restraining order against the victim.
The actor appeared at Newcastle Magistrates Court on September 12 where he pleaded guilty to one count of breaching the restraining order but denied the second. He also denied the assault by beating allegation and was later remanded in custody ahead of his trial.
The actor was once a rising star in the heart of Hollywood after he landed the role of drifter Pete in the crime thriller Empire State. The beloved film was set in the heart of London’s yuppie docklands and starred Oscar nominee Martin Landau.
But his life soon spiralled out of control when he developed a drug addiction and passion for crime that led to more than 100 convictions. It’s fair to say he looks worlds away from his Hollywood debut.
In recent years, the prisoner shocked fans when he showed off his extensive face tattoos in addition to those covering his self-harm scars. The film star was one of 1,700 inmates freed from jail early to help ease the ongoing issue with overcrowding in prisons all over the country.
Former inmates were filmed popping bottles of fizz and zooming off in supercars as they enjoyed their first taste of freedom. Sir Keir came under fire over the controversial scheme, which saw some prisoners released less than halfway through their sentences.
Concerns were raised about the possibility of criminals re-offending once they’re released to the public. Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood reassured Brits that that measures were taken to reduce the number of domestic abusers being freed after widespread fears for the wellbeing of abuse survivors.
Hoganson was originally convicted in August last year after he was caught attacking his former partner on doorbell footage. The actor was already under a restraining order when he pulled up to her house and shoved her to the ground.
He was also recorded slapping the woman and landing violent blows during the terrifying attack. After his court date, he was sentenced to 18 months behind bars after he confessed to assault by beating and breach of an earlier restraining order.
