TikTok superstar Niall Gray got a hilarious message from Joel Dommett.
The Capital FM presenter recently bagged a role on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, where show pro Kai Widdrington just set a world record. He recently sat on the panel of the ballroom hit as a guest.
But he’s also known for his hilarious parodies of popular shows like This Morning and A Place in the Sun on TikTok, where he’s racked up nearly 700k followers and over 24 million likes. And these parodies caught the attention of I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked host Joe Dommett.

He may have hosted the National Television Awards since 2021 and tons of ITV shows, including The Masked Singer and Dancer, but Joel suggested Niall was a better presenter than him even when he’s mucking around. Niall told Daily Star: “Every now and then I wonder ‘How are the TV presenters actually taking it?’.

“Joel Dommett got in touch, he sent me a message and he said ‘This is better presenting than I’ve ever done’. Nice to know he’s on board!”
“It’s funny, I love doing the parodies. I just love TV in general, and that’s the whole reason why I just started doing them, because I thought ‘If I can’t go on and do it on TV myself, I’ll make my own ones!’ and it just seems to be going down so well online.”

And it turns out Masked Singer judge and BRIT Awards host Mo Gilligan is a fan, too. “And I bumped into Mo Gilligan at the Summertime Ball this year and he stopped and had a nice chat with me,” Niall said.
“He just sort of said ‘keep up the good work’. I mean that guy’s hosted the BRIT Awards! So it’s nice to get that encouragement from him.”
Asked what it’s really like working behind the scenes of Strictly, Niall admitted he was shocked by the sheer number of costumes (and shoes) on offer. On what surprised him, he said: “The vast amount of costumes!

“There’s corridors that are lined with costumes old and new, and the amount of shoes that are scattered around the place is amazing. Seeing the studio is exciting, with the lights turned off and everything like that. It all looks so different being there in person. Just being in that environment is incredible to see.”
He was full of praise for his co-hosts Janette Manrara and Fleur East, who he insists are just the same off camera as they are when you see them on telly. Asked what it’s like to work with them, he said: “Those guys are great.
“Funnily enough, I worked with Fleur very briefly on Saturday Night Takeaway a couple of years ago. Had a quick chat with her and she’s just like full of energy, and exactly the same with Janette when I was on the panel for It Takes Two earlier this season.
“The nice thing is, they’re just exactly the same on screen as they are off screen. Just full of life.” He added: “They’re a lot of fun to work with and they’re just Strictly through and through. They’re just made for that show. They really hold It Takes Two together.”
Asked about GK Barry’s I’m A Celeb stint, he was thrilled that TikTok stars were getting stints on TV shows. He said: “It’s exciting! I think she’s like the first TikTokker definitely, but you don’t often see content creators going into these sort of main shows. It’s really exciting to see.”
Niall and his mate Sacha Clayton have also just unveiled their new production company Golden Fleece films. “We wanted to bring that TV quality content to social media,” said Niall of the project. “So that’s the route we’re going down. Working with YouTubers and social media content. It’s really exciting, we’ve just got started.”
