Katie Price has admitted that she would prefer to go to prison to have her bankruptcy cleared once and for all.
The model and businesswoman, who is currently celebrating her 46th birthday, said that she has been “exhausted” and “drained” at the discourse surrounding her bankruptcy, she would rather go to jail and clear the debt. However, she has been told this is not possible.
The Pricey was recently declared bankrupt for a second time as she was told she had to pay back £750k in unpaid tax. This has been something Katie, who is currently dating Married at First Sight star JJ Slater, had known about, as she mentioned she was “fed up” with being threatened with legal action since last October.

Speaking on Matt Haycox’s Stripping Off podcast, Katie admitted that the stress of the bankruptcy was getting to her. She opened up to host Matt as she explained: “I have to look after my head; if I know I can’t do something, like go to a court for the media to ridicule me and write about me, I know what I can take,” she explained.
“I’ve never said I don’t care [about the bankruptcy],” she added. “I think what it is, I think I’ve got to the point where I’m so drained with it all.”
Katie then made the stark revelation that she has asked prosecutors looking to reclaim the money to put her in prison and clear the debt. “I have asked, I said, ‘If you put me in prison, just clear it all – because it’s all nip, nip, nip.'”
However, after making the admission that she would rather be in jail for her unpaid tax woes, she was told this would not be an acceptable form of punishment. When she asked about why this was the case, she was told that due to the fact that the unpaid tax was not done fraudulently, she is still liable to pay the money back.
She added that she wanted to “be me” at work and enjoy herself in what she does, without the fear of being ridiculed.
“Before, I was suffering inside,” she revealed. “But I was like, ‘Oh, I’m fine’, when I wasn’t – inside I was trying to say, ‘No, I’m not fine, I need help.’
“I don’t want to be in that situation anymore so I will speak out about how I feel. So now, I control everything I do – no one controls me, I’m no one’s product – and I’m loving what I’m doing, and it’s never been better.”
The proud mum-of-five has now urged people to forget the bankruptcy issues she is going through, and letting her live her life, together with partner JJ. The couple went official earlier this year, and the pair have been loved up ever since.
