At just 31 years of age, Liam tragically passed away after falling from a hotel room’s third-floor balcony in Argentina last month. Last week brought some closure as Argentine officials gave the green light for his body to be repatriated, a wish clearly held dear by his loved ones.
Payne’s father Geoff reportedly accompanied his late son’s body on the flight back, landing into the heart of the UK before reportedly moving on to Liam’s childhood home of Wolverhampton.
The singer’s closest allies from his One Direction days, including Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, are among the names expected to gather under such sombre circumstances. Girlfriend Kate Cassidy and music mogul Simon Cowell are also anticipated to pay their respects alongside Payne’s grieving family, reports the Mirror.
In a pilgrimage filled with emotion, his dad Geoff ventured to the Argentinian hotel where his son drew his last breath, witnessing first-hand the sea of homage laid out by fans since October 16. Revealed by an inside source: “Geoff is living every parent’s worst nightmare. He has been so moved by the outpouring of love and the tributes that have come in from across the world.”
