Liam Payne’s funeral marked the hardest day of his ex Cheryl’s life, it has been said.
Cheryl, 41, bid a final farewell to her ex Liam at his funeral service in the Home Counties on Wednesday (November 20). Liam tragically died after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16.
The singer, who shares seven-year-old son Bear with Liam, joined lots of other famous faces at the private service, including Liam’s One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. Cheryl was supported by her Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh at the service.

The devastating day has been dubbed the “hardest day” of Cheryl’s life. It’s said the “beautiful” service included “personal” readings from Liam’s loved ones and a performance from a choir.
A source told The Sun: “The service was beautiful but for everyone inside the church, the loss of Liam is still unfathomable. A choir performed during the service and Liam’s personality shone through in all of the details.
“The readings given during the service were incredibly personal and painted a picture of what Liam was really like. He was kind, generous and put everyone else first. The service was centred on this.
“Liam as a son, a brother and a father. The man that he was behind closed doors. The man who went out of his way to help others. The fact he is no longer with us is still incomprehensible.”
Another friend said: “Generosity was Liam to a tee. His family knew that Liam cared greatly for others. As painful as his death was, they know Liam would have taken a huge amount of pride in knowing that he was still able to help others.”
The source also claimed “large sums of money” were donated in Liam’s name.
Cheryl shared a tribute to Liam after his death on Instagram, telling fans she has to “face the reality of never seeing his father again”. She posted a black and white picture of Payne in bed with his son.
The singer said: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.
“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
The former couple split in 2018 but appeared to be on good terms before Liam’s death, as he constantly praised his ex-girlfriend for being the “best mum in the world”.
Liam’s funeral was also attended by his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Kate flew with Liam to Buenos Aires in October, but she was not with him at the time of his death, as she had flown home just days before he died.
