Love Island viewers couldn’t wrap their heads around one detail as the new series kicked off.
The 2024 series has started in usual fashion, with a group of 10 singletons entering the Majorca villa to find love… or a few more Instagram followers if all else fails. But as they introduced themselves, fans couldn’t believe their ears.
The ages of this year’s cast so far ranges from youngest lad Ciaran Davies, who is 21, and oldest guy Munveer Jabbal, who is 30. But for the likes of Ciaran, viewers weren’t convinced he was 21, instead thinking he looked older.

Similar comments were shared about some of the other girls and guys, too. “I’m 21 and there ain’t no way that man is 21,” said one.
Another wrote: “These folks are not in their 20s be serious.” A third wrote on X: “What are they feeding 21-year-olds nowadays?”
Someone else added: “Half this group needs to show me their birth certificate because the ages cannot be accurate.” And another said: “HR needs to actually check their birth certificate… age is not matching their face.”
This year’s first couples were picked in a very different way than usual. The guys and girls were split up and tasked with ordering the other group on whether they seemed like boyfriend or girlfriend material.
It got pretty tense, with those ranked least not too happy. But then host Maya Jama revealed that those rankings were the first matches of the series.
Ciaran ended up coupled up with Harriett Blackmore, 24. They were both ranked at the bottom in the challenge.
However Harriett seemed quite pleased. Meanwhile, Mimii Ngulube, 24, ended up with Munveer after they were ranked at the top end.
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
