The hit dating show was back for a brand new series with fresh new singletons looking for love. But spectators who were ready to watch all the fun on ITV X were disappointed as they platform crashed.
Heading over to X in their droves, disgruntled viewers were quick to showcase their frustrations. One fan wrote: “ITVX has blood on his hands for making me miss almost 15 minutes of the show.”
Another said: “So it’s not just me that was having trouble with the ITVx app then.” A third added: “The fact #LoveIsland has been around 10 years, and now has 1/4 the viewers it used to… but ITVX still can’t cope and crashes every single time it launches.”
While a fourth fan also said: “Do better @ITVX! Why do you not have picture in picture display? Why are you not working?”
When some fans managed to overcome the technical difficulties, they were left confused with everything going one. One viewer said: “ITVX finally let me in but im so confused. Why are they all meeting like this? Where’s Maya? Why aren’t the girls or boys lined up?”
Love Island took a different approach this year by allowing the men and women acquainted as soon as they stepped inside the villa. Not long aftr show host Maya Jama strolled in, looking incredible in a white croachet dress, and set them their first challenge of the series.
She said: “Welcome to Love Island! It’s lovely to meet you guys but I think we should have a little game to get things going.”
She continued: “You’ve already started getting to know each other so you guys have had enough time for first impressions, right?” First impressions count.
“Boys and girls, I now want you to rate each other in order of who you think has come across the most like boyfriend and girlfriend material. Right down to who has given the least relationship vibes.”
