Love Island newbie branded ‘awful’ as she defends footballer in row with girls

Love Island newbie Harriett Blackmore has landed herself in hot water after she was accused of “hurling abuse” at a group of women while defending a mystery footballer.

The line-up for the brand new series of Love Island was announced this week, with Harriett as one of the beautiful singletons looking for love. But fans online have shared a video of her in an altercation.

One social media claimed that Harriett was verbally abusive towards them. The X user under the name @ruubyy28 wrote: “Awful person.

A video was later shared on X which appeared to show Harriett trying to defuse a situation with a group of ladies. Harriett could be heard saying that the man was a “Premier League footballer”.

After the footage was released on X and TikTok, fans shared their thoughts on what they saw. One social media user said: “But would you not do what she did if it’s your brother? I don’t think she’s being abusive just telling people to back off and understandably not wanting to be filmed.”

While another said: “She seriously thinks him being a footballer excuses him from starting on and allegedly attacking a group of women? MORE BACKGROUND CHECKS NEED TO BE DONE ON POTENTIAL/FUTURE CONTESTANTS.”

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.

Harriett is a dancer and personal shopper from Brighton. Ahead of the new series which will back on screens on June 3, she explained what she will bring to the villa.

She said: “For the boys, entertainment, a bit of fun and flirting. I’ll definitely up the flirting. For the girls, I’m a really good friend.

“I’ll bring the entertainment for everyone in the Villa, whether that’s making the girls laugh or making the boys turn their heads. I’m sure that I’ll bring the drama.”
