Machine Gun Kelly covers entire upper body in tattoos for ‘spiritual purposes’

Machine Gun Kelly has left his fans dumbfounded after he debuted his new set of tattoos that completely cover his arms and chest.

The singer behind big tracks including Bloody Valentine and Bad Things, 33, showed off his new ink on a social media post uploaded on Tuesday (February 20). In the snap, which he uploaded to his Instagram, his entire upper torso was covered in black, etching out his old tattoos which had previously been there.

Whilst most of his tattoos have been erased, some can still be seen following the procedure, with a cross kept to show off some of his previous stints in the chair. The look created a window-panel-style look at his previous designs before being completely blacked out by the new ink.

Taking to the caption, the controversial rapper posted a simple description for his new look. Writing the four-word caption, he said: “For spiritual purposes only.”

Machine Gun Kelly, who is currently engaged to former model and actress Megan Fox, left fans shocked at the completely different look. Many fans swamped the comments section of the post with their own take on the rapper’s move.

One disgruntled fan, clearly unimpressed with his decision, wrote: “Stupidest f***ing thing I’ve ever seen,” which received almost 13k likes from other followers. Another account, who was more sympathetic added: “I had an emotional attachment to those tats ngl.”

A third user penned: “When you leave your kid unattended with the black marker…” Whilst a fourth profile said: “Dude has gotten so weird, I’m not even a fan anymore…”

In an interview with TMZ, the tattoo artist who carried out the gruelling procedure said that the rapper did not feel his tattoos resonated with his current mindset, adding that they were “chaotic”. Roxx also said that the musician had gone into a “spiritual consultation” before agreeing to have the tats done.

In total, the tattoos took a total of 78 hours in the chair four days a week, with 44 needles needing to be used in order to finish the look off. Roxx added that Machine Gun Kelly was the “toughest client she’s ever had”.

His drastic move comes just after fiancée Megan showed off her new sleeve whilst enjoying a viewing party for the Grammys. The graphics, now etched onto her left arm, were in full display as she enjoyed herself, with some of the designs including a soaring phoenix and flowers.
