Dr Michael Mosley was seen on screens on Thursday evening as Channel 5 aired the first instalment of his final TV endeavour.
The three-part series, Michael Mosley: Wonders of the Human Body, features some of the last footage ever recorded by the late TV doc and one segment struck a particularly emotional chord following his untimely passing in June 2024.
In an eerie twist of fate, while discussing heart attack risks, he mentioned his father’s demise, vowing not to “go the same way.”
The TV doctor revealed: “I just had a new test that can predict your heart attack risk before it happens.”
Dr Mosley admitted that medics had cautioned him about potentially deadly build-ups like arterial plaque that could precipitate a lethal heart attack, warning that if they burst, it would be curtains for him, reports the Mirror.
He investigated whether the damage to his arteries was reversible, and tests showed no inflammation, suggesting a low risk of heart attack.
Dr Mosley remarked at the time: “So another way of looking at this is saying I have a 94% chance of making it to 74, which means I have a 94% chance of beating my dad.”
The telly doc opened up about his sigh of relief, confessing his nerves over the test results. “That was stressful and at least reassuring in at least I know now that it’s unlikely that I will go the same way as my dad,” Dr Mosley revealed, as reported by the Express.
The emotional scene tugged at the heartstrings of viewers who took to social media to share their grief over the loss of the cherished educator.
The country was in mourning after the death of the 67-year-old TV favourite earlier this year.
He had been exploring the secrets of human biology in his last documentary, delving into the enigmas of ageing, our delicate bones, and cutting-edge cancer treatments just before his programme hit the screens.
The tragedy unfolded when the familiar face from This Morning disappeared during a summer getaway in Greece. His body was found lifeless by search teams on the Greek island of Symi.
Chilling security footage caught the final moments of the TV doctor as he made his way down a rugged path next to a fence before vanishing from sight.
His devastated wife recounted how Michael faced an “incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen” amid the frantic search operations.
A coroner’s prelim report has denied any foul play talk, pinning the tragic and sudden passing of the TV star on natural causes linked to dehydration.
His wife Dr Bailey Mosley, is heartbroken, stating: “I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.”
Michael Mosley: Wonders of the Human Body is available to watch on My 5.
