Naked Attraction’s Anna Richardson swears off I’m A Celeb ‘every year’ for simple reason

Telly host Anna Richardson has admitted that she is asked “every year” to go in I’m A Celeb – and now she’s revealed why she gives the same answer each time.

The Naked Attraction star and diabetes advocate, 52, is a household name, having been beamed on our screens for some of the most iconic television from the last 20-something years.

But, despite, coming face to face with bits and bobs for her Naked Attraction hosting duties, Anna is adamant that she will not be duelling any kangaroo “sausage” anytime soon.

As I’m A Celebrity reaches the end of 2024 show, we sat down for a chat with Anna to speak on all things TV, being naked and her campaign with health tech brand Abbott to tackle “discrimidating” – the discrimination people face with disabilities in the dating world, specifically looking at diabetes.

On the topic of all things I’m A Celeb, Anna exclusively told us: “I get asked every year. I wouldn’t last three seconds, which is why I always turn it down.

“I go ‘you must be joking’. I mean, the things they have to do, even from just basically having to fling yourself out of a helicopter, just no.

“I would not last at all.”

Well, that settles that then! It looks like Anna will not be heading into the jungle anytime soon, but the king or queen of the jungle will be coming out this weekend.

Last night (Thursday, December 5), Maura Higgins and Barry McGuigan were both booted off the show in a shock double eviction. Ant and Dec announced the news around the campfire that saw the Love Islander favourite packing before the final on Sunday.

But, while fellow celebrities are roughing it in the jungle and showering off fish guts from all their nooks, Anna has been in the UK relentlessly campaigning with Abbott to raise awareness about the difficulties of dating with a disability.

Together with research from Abbott, Anna has helped to “uncover” the dating bias which revealed that “32% of people believe those with health issues are less attractive as romantic partners”.

And, shockingly, those in the study were “26% less likely to consider a women desirable when she referenced diabetes in her profile”.

Hence the term, “discrimidating”. Wanting to raise awareness on this issue, Anna candidly shared: “It’s a campaign that is very close to my heart.

“I am pre-diabetic. There is diabetes in my family, my dad has diabetes and mum is also pre-diabetic.

“So, it’s a campaign that’s important to me. I’ve been working alongside Abbott Freestyle Libre because they’ve conducted some research that highlights that people living with underlying health conditions, for example, type 2 diabetes, are facing stigma and prejudice in everyday life, which shocked me, particularly when it comes to dating.

“This to me was pretty extraordinary.”

Anna hopes that openly talking about diabetes will lessen the stigma of the condition and create conversations that lead to change.
