P Diddy’s huge influence over Hollywood – links to MTV and unexpected A-listers

P Diddy has had a huge behind-the-scenes influence on Hollywood.

The rapper, real name Sean Combs, is a well known figure in the A-list sphere thanks to a fruitful musical career and his famous parties. However, many people may not know how much impact Diddy has had on the industry as a whole.

From discovering some of the biggest names in the game to executive producing MTV shows, the I’ll Be Missing You hitmaker is known for much more than his music. The rapper was recently arrested in New York and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, all of which he “categorically” denies.

In light of Diddy’s recent scandal, Daily Star is taking a look at how much of an influence Mr Combs has had on the music and entertainment industry.

The rapper is credited for discovering some of the most iconic names in pop, rap and RnB, such as Biggie Smalls, Mary J Blige and User. At one point, when Usher was just a teen, the singer went to live with P Diddy who would have been in his 20s at the time.

During in interview with Howard Stern, the Confessions singer admitted he saw some “pretty wild” stuff that he described as “crazy”. The star explained: “There were very curious things taking place and I didn’t necessarily understand it.

Diddy was also behind MTV’s Making The Band as an executive producer. The reality show was a nationwide talent search and helped skyrocket the careers of O-Town, Da Band, Dainty Kane, Day26 and Donnie Klang.

Continuing his TV career, Combs helped create Run’s House, a reality TV show that followed the life of Run DMC’s Joseph Simmons. Another venture was State of the Culture, a late-night talk show that was created by Diddy and Joe Budden.

It first premiered in September 2018 on Revolt and described as: “[The show] will find hip-hop’s most talked about pundit [Joe Budden] delivering his signature raw, unfiltered and informative debates and interviews where he digs deep with prominent artists, celebrities and personalities.”
