Twilight sex scenes in Breaking Dawn: Part 1 were so raunchy they were originally slapped with an explicit rating.
Pattinson spoke to Glamour in 2011 about re-filming the steamy moments and said: “The toughest part was avoiding an R-rating.” He also admitted: “Watching other people have sex is never going to be that spectacular anyway.
“It’s a strange thing when there’s so much hype about it. You are like: ‘God, I hope this lives up to it!’”

Robert admitted that although he had a close bond with co-star Kristen Stewart, it made filming those scenes just that little bit weirder. He confessed that “the more comfortable you are with each other,” the “harder it gets” to film “really intense relationship scenes” which left him concerned about “embarrassing himself”.

In an interview with Glamour, Kristen said: “We originally got rated R, they recut it,” before she went on to say: “There are two big sex scenes in the two (final) films and we did them fairly early. It was so weird. It didn’t even feel like we were doing a scene within a Twilight film. I was like: ‘Bella! What are you doing? Wow, what is happening here?’ It was very surreal.”
Kristen also noted that the toned down version of the scenes were necessary considering the franchise’s young fan base: “(The ratings board) knows who our audience is and can be like: ‘Hmm guys, just cool it a little.’ It’s funny because in the book, you don’t see anything. It’s everyone’s imagination, so it’s entirely subjective. I hope it’s good!”

Stewarts nerves also cropped up during the wedding scene as she was “shrouded in secrecy the entire two days of filming” and branded the experience “crazy”. According to the A-lister, she was “on full lockdown” as though she was “wearing millions of dollars worth of diamonds”.
Kristen and Robert became household names after the first film in the Twilight franchise was released in 2008. Stewart played Bella Swan who falls for vampire Edward Cullen, and the films were based on the books written by Stephanie Meyer.
