The Chase team miss out on whopping cash prize as Bradley Walsh makes brutal swipe

Bradley Walsh was in mischievous form as he watched The Chase’s latest team taste bitter defeat. Despite all four hopefuls storming into the final chase, their cash pot wasn’t what they’d hoped for.

The squad of four – Bob, Lea, Phil and Namuli – faced off against ‘The Vixen’ aka Jenny Ryan, seeking to bag a bit more than loose change. Each proved their mettle in solo bouts and joined forces for the climactic round.

Having conquered their individual challenges, each contestant chose lower or middle offers, which slashed their potential winnings a fact that seemed to tickle host Bradley Walsh pink. As Namuli clinched the last spot in the final chase, cheeky Walsh quipped: “Make sure you’re sitting down before I tell you…”

Embracing the other contestants jubilantly, Namuli blurted out: “I don’t need to know. I don’t want to know!” barely masking her nerves, reports the Express.

Seizing the moment, Bradley took a jab at the group’s conservative game strategy. He announced: “Now then, 13 collectively, but that should be saying £262,000. Over a quarter of a million pounds.”

In an attempt to lift the mood, he consoled them: “But we have a full house against the Vixen and we are playing for £13,000. That’s £3,250 each.”

The team on The Chase set a tough challenge for Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan with 17 questions to answer in two minutes, but she was on fire and caught them with time to spare.

Bradley Walsh shared his sympathy with the contestants, saying: “Almost got there, you almost made it. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside you.” With a heavy heart, he continued: “But I’ve got to take the £13,000 away as you have been caught and for you the Chase is over.”

Jenny praised the team’s effort and strategy, but pointed out: “What a lovely team. Clearly you got together and you’ve worked to a tactic. Unfortunately, you’re going to watch that first minute, in particular, of the final chase back and go ‘oh no, those were the couple of questions that we could have got and that would have made all the difference.'”

She added with a hint of relief: “But you know, at least it’s not as painful as having to take a quarter of a million off you.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
