The Chase’s Bradley Walsh floored at team’s ‘highest ever final score’ on show

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left gobsmacked after his player bagged the show’s “highest final score” ever.

The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Friday (May 3) as telly legend Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers. As fans tuned in, he introduced contestants David, Tony, Natalie and Marion before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the quartet were up against Anne Hegerty, also known as The Governess, who made sure to bring her A-game against the wise quizzers. And it’s fair to say the team did fantastic, with all four players bagging a spot in the final.

What’s more, the jackpot they were playing for was a huge £47,000. Before their final game, the chaser was asked on how she thought the team would do. Anne said she thought they would be rather quick at the start before predicting the “wheels will come off.”

Bradley couldn’t believe his eyes

As all four players were in the final chase, a rare instance on the quiz show, this meant they had a heart start by four places. In the end, the team managed to get 23 questions correct – which left Bradley stunned.

He quipped: “Regular viewers will know, that’s very high. This is going to be proper close, it’s time for the Final Chase.”

Meanwhile, it was then time for chaser Anne to try and beat their score. With all eyes on The Chaser, it appears it wasn’t her lucky day as the time ran out just as she was at the 18 mark, nowhere near the team’s score of 23.

This meant the team had won £47,000, which was £11,750 each. Bradley was over the moon at his team’s win.

The team had possibly the ‘highest ever’ Final Chase Bradley had witnessed

He said: “Congratulations, take the £47,000, split it equally and go into the sunset, you’ve not been caught. Guess what, you’ve outrun the Chaser. Great performance.”

Viewers were quick to react to the team’s triumphant win. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Wow, best The Chase I’ve seen in a while.” Someone else proclaimed: “Proper team. Well deserved!”
