Two of TOWIE’s most well-known faces have found themselves stranded in Dubai due to severe flooding.
Joey Essex and James Argent – better known as Arg – have been taking some time away from the UK to live it up in the desert city over the past few days. However, things have come crashing down after a severe storm has brought the city to a complete standstill.
With Dubai being located in the dry and arid United Arab Emirates, it is rare that rain comes in such a deluge. However, in the last 24 hours, the country has seen the equivalent of a year’s worth of rain, leaving some areas completely underwater, and creating major disruption for the city’s airport and metro stations.

The storm has also been deadly as in neighbouring Oman, some 18 people have already lost their lives to the devastating weather conditions. Flights in and out of the region have been diverted as the nation grapples with the worst fall of rain in over 75 years, as official issue a major weather warning.
Joey, 33, and Arg, 36, took to their respective Instagram stories to fill fans in on their travel ordeal, as they were stuck in Dubai airport. Joey admitted that the duo had been trying to make their way back to the UK, but were unable to because of intense flooding at the airport.
“Decided to hitchhike after hours of trying to get home,” he explained to his Instagram followers. Another video showed the pair attempting to walk back to the city, as Joey crossed the road barefoot to avoid his shoes getting wet in the ankle-deep water.
But despite the chaos of the weather system battering the United Arab Emirates, Joey and Arg are still keeping things positive, as they joked: “After hours of looking for a taxi we have decided to take the next step… operation survival.”
The pair, as a result were left with no choice other than to walk home from the airport to Joey’s luscious pad that he bought after leaving the UK behind for Dubai. Sources close to the former ITV star said that he feels “completely safe” in Dubai – which is something he could not say in Essex, after burglars raided his £3million home.
Since leaving Essex, Joey has hinted that Dubai is his new “home” and is often spotting making his way around the city, making money to stay in the man-made metropolis. However, Joey has made his way back to the UK on a number of occasions.
He also was spotted in America in recent months, as his cousins filmed their reality TV show, House of Sims. However, fans were shocked when he looked unrecognisable – trading the fake tan for a buzzcut.
