Forbes have updated their billionaire list with an unsurprising pick taking the top spot for the world’s richest female musicians.
Taylor Swift has overtaken Rihanna as the richest female musician in the world. The self-made 34-year-old currently has a net worth of $1.6billion, according to Forbes’ Real Time Billionaires list.
This whopping figure sees her outrank that of Barbadian Queen Rihanna, who Forbes reports is worth a still-eyewatering $1.4billion.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
Taylor Swift has built an empire of loyal fans, flogging music and merchandise to obsessed self-proclaimed ‘Swifties’ all over the world. But it was her earnings from the Eras tour and the value of her music catalogue that pulled her into the top spot.
Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, secured her wealth not just through music, but through her infamous cosmetics line: Fenty Beauty. The makeup and skincare brand that she co-owns with French luxury retailer LVMH, doubled its revenue in 2022.
Despite her impressive status as one of the world’s richest musicians, Rihanna has not released an album in almost a decade. Instead, Rihanna has released a smattering of singles totalling less than one a year.
Although starving for new music, Rihanna’s dedicated fans continue to support her through both Fenty Beauty, and her lingerie outfit Savage x Fenty.
Also gracing the list of richest female musicians are, unsurprisingly, greats such as Madonna and Beyonce. Madge is worth $850million, according to Forbes, having grossed an estimated $1.2billion over the course of her career.
The pop icon’s illustrious real estate portfolio includes posh properties in sought-after locations such as the Hamptons, Hidden Hills and the Upper East Side. Beyonce, in comparison, is worth an estimated $800million (Forbes).
A recent female musician to acquire billionaire status is none other than ex-Disney princess Selena Gomez. The 32-year-old was declared a billionaire in September 2024, amassing an astounding $1.3billion.
But, despite her fame and fortune, Gomez appears to have remained humble. She responded to the news of her new billionaire status by telling Entertainment Tonight: “I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money.
“I really am giving all the credit to the people who buy the products. They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true. So I’m really, really honoured and just happy.”
