X Factor star in hospital dash and cancels gig after becoming severely unwell

X Factor star Amelia Lily has opened up about her health scare, revealing she’s been “severely unwell” and was forced to pull out of a gig after being hospitalised.

The 29-year-old singer and Geordie Shore celeb took to social media to tell her fans about the ordeal that led to her missing her performance at the Sunderland Food and Drink Festival. She shared: “Hello everyone, after a really tough week of being severely unwell, I have never felt like this in my life. I have been admitted into hospital with an underlying infection.”

Gutted about cancelling her show, Amelia said: “I am so sorry that I won’t be able to perform tomorrow evening. I love performing and am absolutely gutted I can’t be there tomorrow but I know I’m in the best place,” as per her heartfelt message.

The pop sensation, who battles diabetes, updated her followers on Sunday, 9 June, saying she was now recovering at home following her hospital stint. She revealed her diagnosis and assured fans she was getting better: “I was discharged last night and am back home, have to go back in the morning for some blood but I am on the mend.

“It resulted in being a kidney infection which came from a UTI that was left untreated.” The star opened up about her health scare, saying: “I felt pain in my lower back at the start of the week and tried for three days to get into my doctors, but they were not taking any more appointments or e-consults which resulted into my vomiting and having the migraine and a fever, but with me being diabetic things can get a little more complicated as you can imagine.”

In a heartfelt conclusion to her health update, the 29-year-old celeb was relieved to report that her scans came back clear and took the opportunity to heap praise on the medical team. She continued: “I’ve also had an ultrasound on my kidneys and good news nothing else has showed up. I just want to say a massive thank you for all the wonderful staff on ward 37 at James Cook Hospital who looked after me and gave me the best care. I admire each and every single one of you how hard you all work.”

Amelia Lily first shot to fame during her stint on The X Factor in 2011 where she finished in third place. She’s since graced our screens in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and stirred things up in Geordie Shore from 2020, featuring in two series of the hit reality show.
