90s boyband icon hasn’t spoken to bandmates in more than 20 years – but ‘it’s time’

EXCLUSIVE: Former Bad Boys Inc singer Ally Begg parted ways with his band members in the late 90s and explains why he hasn’t spoken to some of them in over two decades

A 90s boyband legend has admitted he hasn’t spoke to his former bandmates for more than 20 years.

Bad Boys Inc star Ally Begg, 52, has claimed it’s been a long stint since he’s heard from the likes of David Ross and Tony Dowding – but thinks it’s time they did something about that after tragic news rocked the boy band world last year, of Liam Payne’s death.

When asked if the band, who were together from 1993 to 1995, were still in touch, Ally exclusively told us: “Sadly no, I haven’t spoke to David for 25 years and I’ve not spoken to Tony for about 10 years, and that was only over WhatsApp to congratulate him for having another daughter.

“Matthew [Pateman] and I are still really good pals and I still try to see him as often as I can whenever I’m in London. I’m so happy he is doing what I think he was born to do, which is to be a performer on stage be it with Let Loose or The Fizz, I’m delighted for him, I really am.”

Ally continued: “We all went through it together, I would love to sit down one day just the four of us in somewhere like Starbucks and just remind ourselves of the absolute mental time we had for three years. I know the other boys struggled with it but I don’t want to think of it in a negative way anymore.

“I would love to see the boys again, I really would, because we all shared the same experience. Now that I’m a dad, I appreciate it an awful lot more because you start to appreciate life as a whole.”

The dad-of-two continued: “Since I became a dad, my thinking in life completely changed because the only thing I cared about was my children. The things that used to bug me in the past became completely irrelevant.

“I thought it’s been long enough that I’ve dwelled on it, now I’m just going to think of all the good times and laughs we’ve had because we did share some unbelievable experiences.”

However, sadly for fans he claimed there was “absolutely no chance” he would consider putting the band back together professionally.

Since the band, Ally has carved out a successful career in football broadcasting and in recent years launched his own YouTube Channel. He dedicates the platform to interviewing past pop stars with the hope of finding common ground with his guests, which have included stars from 5ive, Spandau Ballet, B*Witched and more.
