Model Abbey Clancy has been with former England footballer Peter Crouch for almost two decades and the couple have been married for almost 11 years, during which time they have welcomed four children
Abbey Clancy made a candid remark about her marriage to Peter Crouch, stating she wouldn’t trust him “as far as she could throw him”. The model and former Premier League footballer have been together for almost 20 years.
Abbey and Peter Married in 2011, five years after they began dating, and now share four children together. They regularly discuss the highs and lows of married life on their podcast, The Therapy Crouch.
A recent episode sparked an interesting discussion when a listener asked if they would attend a singles night together. The listener’s friends were all in relationships, leaving her with no one to socialise with.
Peter, 44, a former England footballer, suggested organising a regular “girls night” instead. He said: “I get she wants to go out with the girls, that’s fine, go to a pub, go to a restaurant, you can’t go to a singles night.”
Abbey questioned the difference between attending a singles night and a regular night out. Peter responded: “If I said to you, my mate is single and he’s not got a girlfriend, so I’m just going to go to this singles night tonight to help him out, how would you feel?”
Abbey replied: “I’d be like grow up. If you’re confident enough in your relationship and secure in your relationship then your head won’t be turned.”
Peter, her husband, retorted that Abbey “isn’t confident enough in their relationship” if she wouldn’t let him go. She responded: “I’m not, I’m absolutely not, I wouldn’t trust you as far as I could throw you.
“You’re under lock and key, mister. I would help my friend out, maybe not a singles night then.”
The couple, Peter and Abbey, first crossed paths in Liverpool in 2005. Recounting their initial meeting during a chat on Good Morning Britain, Abbey revealed: “When we first met, he begged me for my number and then I went to the loo or the bar, and when I came back, he was talking to another girl. I was like, ‘How dare you?'”.
Peter defended himself saying he was “just talking” to the other lass but Abbey asked for her number back. He continued: “I said, ‘You can’t give someone your number and then take it back’.”
Despite the early hiccup, their romance flourished and they exchanged vows on June 30, 2011. As per OK!, the family resides in a “magical” Surrey mansion boasting its own cinema room and a vast garden.
Abbey often features the expansive mansion on her social media feeds. Followers have caught glimpses of Peter working at his large wooden desk, adorned with a football trophy, as well as enjoying the property’s outdoor swimming pool and wooden play area.
It’s reported that they moved into the stunning property in 2016.
