Adam Peaty is said to have offered his dad an olive branch ahead of his wedding with Holly Ramsay, but a family source has swiped at the swimmer’s alleged invitation
Adam Peaty allegedly invited his dad to the wedding at the last minute.
The Olympic swimmer tied the knot with Gordon Ramsay’s daughter at Bath Abbey in a star-studded ceremony on Saturday (December 28). The likes of David and Victoria Beckham, and TV stars Dan Walker and Sara Davies were in attendance.
The lead up to the big day was plagued by a bitter family feud – with most of Adam’s family uninvited apart from his sister Beth. However, it’s now claimed Adam’s dad Mark was told before Christmas that he could come to the wedding, but he would have to sit at the back.
A family source told The Sun on Sunday: “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand.” They added: “It was a difficult day for Caroline and Mark, so the family spent the evening together.
“Caroline got upset as soon as she saw the photographs from the wedding. For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones — who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”
It comes after Adam’s mum Caroline revealed she would no longer be gatecrashing the ceremony, which she and other family members haven’t been invited to. She had originally planned on turning up.
But a family member told The Sun: “She will not be there because it would be too sad and she don’t want to spoil his big day.” Caroline’s husband Mark is said to have inspired a change of heart, persuading her it would be “too upsetting” to watch.
She previously said she believes it’s “the end” of her relationship with her son. She told the Daily Mail: “I know it’s the end.
“But please, the message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.
“There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don’t wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage, like your dad and me. The reason I’m speaking out is I want all this to end.”
