Adam Peaty sparks family drama with fresh blow to estranged mum ahead of wedding

Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty jetted to Finland with fiancée Holly Ramsay and Gordon Ramsay’s family as his mum Caroline spoke about heartache over Bath Abbey wedding snub

The wedding of Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty is just around the corner, and unfortunately, the heartache continues for the Peaty family – most of whom won’t be getting an invitation to the special day.

Olympic champion Adam, 30, and Holly, 25, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, are rumoured to be tying the knot in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 27. Ahead of the nuptials, the young pair have been making the most of their time away from the chaos of wedding preparations, even whisking themselves off on a Christmas break with Holly’s famous relatives.

Unfortunately, the Peatys have been left completely in the wilderness, with mum Caroline Peaty’s 60th birthday seemingly ignored by the couple. Here the Mirror examines what Adam and Holly have been getting up to between final wedding arrangements.

Before their big moment, Adam and Holly escaped on a festive trip to Finland, carving out time from their busy lives to indulge in romantic reindeer sleigh rides and trips to witness the spectacular Northern Lights, reports the Mirror.

The smitten pair brought along Adam’s five year old son George, whom he shares with ex-partner Eiri Munro, plus Holly’s mum and dad, Gordon and Tana. On Friday evening (December 19), Holly gave fans a glimpse into their adventures through her Instagram Story, sharing photos of the aurora borealis and another shot from inside a plane, with the caption: “Home”.

Other delightful holiday snaps revealed Adam buried waist-deep in towering snow drifts, whilst little George clambered aboard a tiny snowmobile.

Though Adam ensured he kept followers updated on Thursday (December 18), he failed to mention that it was also mum Caroline’s landmark 60th birthday, despite tributes flooding in from other quarters. Posting on Instagram whilst her son played in the snow, Caroline revealed she’d reached the milestone age and shared heartfelt messages from various relatives.

One touching tribute read: “Happy 60th birthday to one of the strongest woman I’ve ever met… thank you for everything you’ve done for us and the boys! Thank you for guiding me through the good and the bad… you’ve been there for me for 18 years and I’m truly grateful so please put your feet up, relax and enjoy your day.”

Meanwhile, Caroline’s aunt Janet and uncle Eddie posted a charming nostalgic montage of photographs spanning from her birth, with the caption: “It only seems like yesterday since you were born Caroline, a lovely Christmas present making me an aunty for the first time. Many happy returns of the day, happy 60th birthday to you.”

On Monday evening, Adam and Holly tucked into a sumptuous feast at dad Gordon’s Lucky Cat restaurant, where they were accompanied by Eve Winnington, wife of Australian swimmer Elijah Winnington, and another close friend. Extravagant dishes of prawns and caviar-topped sushi were served at the chic Mayfair restaurant, where the ‘chef’s table’ costs diners up to £180 per person.

Holly seemed to choose the £135 seafood platter that evening, with photos revealing a luxurious array of sushi, salted edamame and sweet and sour prawns. The bride-to-be ensured she captured the moment with a bathroom selfie alongside friend Eve, and it looked like everyone had a brilliant time.

This follows Adam and Holly being seen departing the upmarket Robun Japanese sushi restaurant and cocktail bar with Gordon, Tana, and Holly’s sister Tilly, 24. Young George was also present and was spotted holding hands with his soon-to-be stepmother.

According to other diners, Adam and Holly seemed “inseparable”. One person told The Daily Mail: “They were all over each other, giggling and fooling about. Whatever problems there may be in the family, they certainly weren’t showing it”.

Whilst there’s been considerable excitement leading up to the wedding, Adam and Holly have also faced criticism from unhappy Bath residents, who are reportedly upset about the couple’s apparent decision to exclusively book the Abbey for their 90-minute ceremony, preventing any other ceremonies from taking place. While hiring the abbey for a wedding typically costs around £2,500, it’s believed Adam and Holly have paid several thousand more for exclusive use, according to The Sun.

One local resident told the publication: “It seems rather selfish to be hiring the abbey for the whole day when your wedding service only lasts for an hour and a half or so.”

It’s understood that devastated mum Caroline will no longer be welcome at the celebratory wedding, with Adam’s sister Bethany expected to be the sole member of the Peaty family in attendance.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Caroline revealed: “The message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.”

She added: “There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don’t wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage. The reason I’m speaking out is I want all this to end.”

Caroline was notably absent from Holly’s hen do, which featured her mum Tana, Victoria Beckham, close family friends and her siblings, and this obvious snub highlighted the simmering family tensions. The mum, who has devoted herself to backing Adam’s swimming career, says she was actually at home looking after grandson George instead.

Caroline claims the bust-up between herself, Holly and Adam kicked off when her extended family got snubbed from the engagement party.

Desperate to make her feelings known, Caroline says she fired off a text to Holly, which left Adam fuming. She also alleged she felt her son was under “Gordon’s clutches”, widening the already heartbreaking divide.

Posting on Instagram yesterday, Caroline admitted the past year had been amongst the toughest of her life, whilst pledging to turn over a new leaf in 2026. She announced: “This year, I met the most broken version of myself but also the strongest. 2026, get ready, because I’m coming back stronger than ever.”
