All Creatures Great and Small actor Steve Hodson has died at the age of 77 after health issues, his daughter has confirmed.
The actor is also famed for his role in the iconic 1970s children’s series Follyfoot. The star won hearts as horseman Steve Ross on the beloved show and also graced screens in the BBC hit All Creatures Great and Small.
His daughter Jessica broke the news to fans on a Follyfoot Facebook group with a heartfelt message which read: “Steve passed away last night after a long battle with COPD.”
The tribute continued, highlighting his lasting legacy: “That’s one brighter star you’ll see in the heavens from now on.”

It ended by sending thoughts to his loved ones: “Much love to all his family at this awful time. So sad.”
Steve was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire and first worked in the civil service. He went on to attend drama classes with his then-fiancée Anita Carey.
They later moved to London and had more training at Central School of Speech and Drama. During their time there, they split up.
Steve’s first television stint came as a hotel worker on a 1971 episode of Hine. He also picked up roles on The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes and Z Cars, among others.
Outside of television, Steve was a familiar voice on BBC radio, appearing in broadcast dramas. He was also a stage actor, having played the likes of Chaucer in Caterbury Tales and Marius in Les Miserables.
Steve married his wife Rosamund shortly after the end of Follyfoot. They had two daughters.
