Amanda Holden has been warned by the BBC after she breached social media rules by sharing and promoting a product linked to her TV persona, according to reports
Amanda Holden’s latest Instagram post has thrown social media into a frenzy, as the Britain’s Got Talent judge and TV sensation stirred up a storm with her recent online activity.
Famed for sharing candid moments from the popular BBC show Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job, where she and her good mate Alan Carr get stuck into renovating old properties, her latest share saw her flaunting her handy skills. Dressed in a sensible boilersuit and wielding a power drill, she proved her refurbishment effort are going well.
However, the star landed herself in trouble with the BBC when she featured in a promo clip for rival channel QVC, wearing her signature ‘Handy Mandy’ getup from the renovation show.
On the February 3, Amanda put the short commercial on her Insta profile, bigging up her homeware line, BundleBerry. Reports from Mirror suggest bosses at the BBC weren’t too pleased, giving her a stern warning about breaching strict rules forbidding their stars from flogging products that connect back to their TV jobs.
These guidelines state: “Actors and artists who perform in BBC output should not appear in promotional work, including advertisements, in a way which mimics or replicates their on-air roles for the BBC.”, reports the Express.
A BBC spokesperson was quick to address the situation, saying: “Amanda has removed her post and has been reminded of her responsibilities, as a BBC presenter, when using social media.”
Similarly, Nick Knowles got tangled up in some drama back in May 2021 after he appeared in a Shreddies advert, channelling his ‘DIY SOS’ look with his trademark hard hat and tool belt. It caused quite the uproar over breaching Auntie Beeb’s rules.

In another BGT preview, Amanda is prepping to join the judges’ panel with her presence once again. ITV dropped the big news that the nation’s favourite talent show is making its comeback on Saturday 22 February.
