Cinderella’s Curse is a disturbing horror retelling of the Disney princess’ story, starring blood, guts and gore as she takes revenge on her step-family and those who taunted her
Cinderella is the latest character to get a twisted horror film makeover.
Already there’s been horrifying versions of Winnie The Pooh. Plus, the boy who never grows up, Peter Pan got turned into a twisted abduction flick.
And Cinderella’s Curse is a 2024 film “based on the same folktale that Disney updated and popularised for children back in the 1950s”. Directed by Louisa Warren and written by Harry Boxley, Cinderella’s Curse stars Kelly Rian Sanson, Natasha Tosini, Lauren Budd, Danielle Scott, Sam Barrett and Chrissie Wunna.
The trailer shows a young girl as Cinderella sitting at the table with her stepmother and stepsisters. They agree to make a toast, but on the table in front of them lies a woman with a warped face covered in blood.
Cinderella lets out a blood curdling scream as her step-family watch in glee before the scene cuts to a ball scene. The princess dances with a man dressed in a matching white outfit as she says: “I haven’t stopped thinking about you since we met.”
In a cruel turn of events, the pair stop dancing together and he leans in to scathe: “Do you really think that I would love a w**** like you?”
The prince then leans over and spits in her face as everyone around them laughs and kicks her, which sets Cinderella off on a murderous rampage similar to the popular horror movie Carrie. She hopes for revenge when a gruesome creature offers her three wishes, which leads to the deaths of all those to tormented the princess.
The axe-wielding Cinderella kills and tortures everyone who laughed in her face and horror fans are claiming the film “ruined their childhoods”.
Over on YouTube in the comment section for the gory horror’s trailer, film fans gathered to share their thoughts on the Disney reimagining. One said: “So you turned Cinderella into Carrie,” while another added: “Cinderella gets ‘Carrie’ treatment, what next, Snow White gets ‘The Ring’ treatment? Oh my.”
“Now all we need is the Sleeping Beauty Massacre,” said another horror fan. Someone else’s comment read: “My Favorite Childhood Fairytale Memory Is Ruined [crying emojis].”
Some people were clearly unimpressed with the Cinderella’s Curse trailer, writing: “It’s a joke, right? It must be,” and: “This looks like it had a budget of whole $1000.”
Others also slammed the trailer for “showing the whole plot” and spoiling the entire movie.
