Celebrity Deathmatch was a satirical adult stop-motion claymated show that originally ran on MTV from 1998 until 2002.

Each episode pitted various topical or historical celebrities against one another in a fight to the death in various over-the-top ways. And no-one was safe, if you’d been in the news, or were high profile enough, then you’d be stepping into the ring and scrapping until you maimed or were maimed. The series was notorious for its excessive gory violence, with combatants using different abilities and weapons to inflict particularly savage attacks, resulting in exaggerated physical injuries.

And it was almost a cathartic experience to see two celebs you’d think would have (or did have) beef, to settle their differences once and for all.

So here at the Daily Star we’ve picked out a few of the fights that were featured in the show, that could have happened in real life.

Liam Gallagher vs Noel Gallagher

Liam v Noel was not much a stretch to imagine happening(Image: MTV Vault/Youtube)

Not exactly much of a stretch this one, as the battling bros often fell out behind the scenes. But in this instance Celebrity Deathmatch brought that battle to life before our very eyes. Mercifully the animators made a decent job of the brothers looks, as you wouldn’t have had a clue who they were if you were going by the voice actor’s efforts. Their cross-words kick off in the dressing room, before they stumble around the ring for a few minutes, before prop comedian Gallagher enters and decides the match with his big mallet. Likelihood factor 10

Sylvester Stallone vs Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnie and Sly hated each other back in the day(Image: Youtube)

The two heaviest of muscleman hero heavyweights were popped in the ring together for a fight to the death with Arnie ultimately coming out on top. In real life both have gone on the record to admit that they didn’t like each other in the 80s and 90s, as they vied for the accolade of being the top action hero. They’ve admitted in retrospect that it was a healthy rivalry that spurned each other on to work harder in the gym, but at the time Stallone even described their antagonism as a “violent hatred.” Likelihood factor 7

Charles Manson vs Marilyn Manson

No pic of the Mansons going at it, so here’s one Gallagher brother elbow dropping his sibling(Image: MTV Vault/Youtube)

Psycho killer, Charles Manson was pitted against series regular Marilyn Manson for a fight to the death, in what was the show’s pilot episode in 1998. Marilyn would go on to fight and defeat many other opponents during the show’s run. In this instance he pulled Charles’ skeleton out through his mouth, in a move known as “The Tahitian Skeleton Pull of Death”. As gratifying as this weird match-up would’ve been, the likelihood factor is 1

Monica Lewinsky vs Hillary Clinton

In a different world, these Lewinsky and Clinton may well have scrapped it out(Image: Youtube)

This felt like a scrap that was just meant to happen in real life, and probably would have done if they had aired their differences on Jerry Springer. Lewinsky became internationally known in the late 1990s after US President Bill Clinton admitted to having had an affair with her during her days as a White House intern between 1995 and 1997. So it was only right that they were pitted against one another in clay. However, mid-fight Bill Clinton accidentally tells Paula Jones to “Grab [my] nuts” through a microphone so he can have the peanuts he ordered earlier. This is misunderstood by both combatants, who turn on him. Bill then flees the arena in a Secret Service helicopter. Likelihood factor 6

Michael Jackson vs Madonna

The King vs the Queen of Pop would have been one hell of a tussle in real life. Both had enjoyed more than a decade of chart dominance, and had even said to have been romantically connected and spent a lot of time together. However, despite Madge’s speaking fondly about their time together the pair ultimately clashed. Wildly different lifestyles led to arguments between the duo. And Jackson did not mince words when speaking about Madonna. “She is not a nice person,” he said in an interview for the book “The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul in Intimate Conversation.” This would’ve been a good scrap, and, going by Jacko’s words, Likelihood factor 8

Jackie Chan vs Jean Claude Van Damme

Jackie Chan and Jean Claude Van Damme meet for the first time, in clay(Image: Youtube)

It’s the age old question of who was the best. Was it Van Damme’s super bendy, perfectly-angled kicking action hero, or the frantic, acrobatic, comedic stuntman style of Chan. There was only one way to find out. Fiiiight. This epic battle pitted the Belgian-born martial artist against his Hong Kong-raised opponent. For the sake of the show Chan rips the arms off of Chuck Norris’ corpse and decapitates Van Damme with them. The pair have never appeared on the big screen before, but given the fact that they fight for a living. Likelihood factor 5
