Model Christine McGuinness and TV star Paddy McGuinness split in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, but have been living together with their children at their Cheshire mansion
Christine McGuinness has admitted there was “no repairing” her marriage to Paddy.
The former Miss Liverpool, 37, and her TV star ex Paddy, 51, announced their separation back in June 2022. They pair are still living together at their Cheshire mansion as they co-parent their three kids, but it’s reported Christine is thinking about moving out.
Christine, who is said to be appearing on E4’s Celebs Go Dating, has opened up about the split and admitted it was a “difficult time” for her to decide to divorce Paddy. However, she insists the relationship couldn’t be fixed.
Speaking on The Shizzio Show podcast, she said: “I’ve never spoken about the reasons for our divorce, and I don’t know if I ever will. It was a difficult time. It wasn’t something that, you know, I just decided to do overnight, or that we chose to do.
“We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know? I’ll always, always love him as the father of the children, and I still live at home with him, which says a lot.
“We separated three years ago, and we are completely divorced, and we live in separate parts of the house, but we share a family home.” Christine said the TV funnyman has started dating again and says she wants a relationship again one day.
“He’s dated, he’s dating, and he’s always been open and honest,” she told the podcast. However, the pair have one strict rule at their home, and it means Paddy can’t bring any women back to the house.
Christine also spoke about the £300,00 divorce bill and how at times the divorce process has been tough. She explained: “There was times where it was fine and really civil, and we were agreeing on what we wanted and what we were going, then there was times where it felt like we were starting all the way back at the beginning.
“It’s the biggest bill I have ever paid in my life, and I will say that I paid for my own divorce, nobody else. I think people assume that if you’re going through a divorce with someone who earns a hell of a lot of money, your legal fees will be covered, or they will cover the costs or something, but it doesn’t work like that.”
“I think both of us now, if we could sit down and do it again, yeah, we’d do it completely differently, because we both spent a hell of a lot of money on divorce lawyers.” She added: “Me personally, £300,000 pounds out of my own money that I didn’t even have. I got someone to represent me that was equal to who was representing him.”
Christine recently told Daily Star how she’s ready to start a new chapter after her split from Paddy. She said: “For so many years, I was being a mum and a wife. I was staying at home all the time. But now, my divorce is complete and I’m dating again. I’m having fun.”
She continued: “This is the year when I’m going to go for it and take on more opportunities. In the past I’d get an opportunity and I’d say no before even considering it.
“But now I’ll look at it and see how much it will affect me mentally and physically. I’ve realised that these things are a bit of fun. It’s telly. So, why not? I like feeling more relaxed and open-minded when it comes to different opportunities.”
She added: “Anything that comes my way, whether it’s dancing in a music video or doing a documentary, I’m going to go for it. So long as I can work it around my children, I’m going to do it.”
