The daughter of legendary boxer Frank Bruno is set to appear on Gladiators. Rachel Bruno, a personal trainer and mental health campaigner will be one of the contestants battling it out on this weekend’s episode of the hit game show.
The personal trainer signed up because she wants to be a champ just like boxing legend Frank. When she was growing up, she was inspired by his incredible success.
Rachel said: “I’ve been into fitness my whole life but boxing runs in my blood. My dad is one of my big driving forces in my fitness journey. Growing up with him being so successful has kind of rubbed off on me. You have to put 110% in it. That is what I get from my dad.”
Rachel will be competing on Saturday at 5.40pm on BBC One to win a place in a quarter finals. The Essex lass isn’t letting nerves get to her.
She said: “It’s exciting to get in that arena. I can’t wait. All my family will be chanting my name. “I am the fittest I’ve ever been. I’m going to be the fastest, baddest girl here yet.”
The news comes after dad Frank told how violent inmates wanted to kill him when he was sectioned.
The former heavyweight champion revealed he became a target for other psychiatric patients who he said were high on drugs. He said: “When I went in there some of the guys said they wanted to fight me.
“The guys are so high because of the drugs they give them and that’s what it was like in a lot of the places I went. I had people coming up to me and wanting to stab me in one of the places.
