Soap star Paula Lane is due to leave Emmerdale at some point this year, however fans reckon she might have already quietly quit after not appearing recently
Some Emmerdale fans are convinced one star has quit – well ahead of their already planned exit.
Actress Paula Lane, who joined as Ella Forster in early 2024 after a past stint on Coronation Street, is due to leave Emmerdale. Her online acting page says that she will be filming with Emmerdale until February 2025.
During her time in the village, Paula’s character Ella has featured in a number of dramatic storylines. It was revealed that she had killed one of her childhood best friends, and later had a relationship with village favourite Liam Cavanagh.
However, as of late, the character has been nowhere to be seen. Because of that, fans reckon Paula might have already quit ahead of her planned exit.
On Reddit, one fan said: “Has Ella gone? Know the actress quit suddenly, she’s not mentioned in the spoilers. Is she gone already? Did she leave when Wendy ratted her out?”
Someone else replied: “I feel bad for Paula Lane. Apart from that one episode where her secret was revealed, they really have her nothing to work with.”
Another commented: “She’s really good, it’s a shame they didn’t use her much.” And one Emmerdale fan wrote: “Not yet, she’s just absent. She’s been horrifically wasted by the writers.”
Paula’s Spotlight page reveals that she should still be in the soap. It reads: “Currently appearing as series regular Ella in Emmerdale ITV filming until February 2025.”
She previously played the iconic role of Kylie Platt in Coronation Street. Her tragic character died in the arms of husband David after being stabbed.
Paula was in Coronation Street from 2010 until 2016. Aside from soaps, she has landed roles in Call The Midwife, The Royal and Father Brown.
Her exit from Emmerdale was revealed in December last year, less than a year after she joined the soap.
Speaking about joining the soap at the time of her arrival, Paula said of her character: “Ella is so ashamged of her past. Every time the truth has come out in the past, she has had to move on and start again, so it’s incredibly painful to share and know that there is no going back now.
“It’s a heaviness she carries all the time in the back of her mind. Pretending to carry on as normal is a short-term fix, and behind closed doors the guilt is very real.”
